STIR LOUNGE DC - GRAND OPENING WEEKEND - APR2-5

STIR LOUNGE DC - GRAND OPENING WEEKEND - APR2-5 www.stirloungedc.com

Many years ago before L2, and Josephine and Lima there was a small lounge across from the Verizon center called Tantra Lounge DC, some of you may not remember how Tantra lounge used to be. You think getting in to Josephine or L2 may have been a tough for you...then you never experienced Tantra lounge. With capacity crowds every night and the Metro inspired drink menu Tantra lounge was a hit venue for years.

As time as passed Tantra lounge has had many changes with long time manager Mood Bacho moving to Current Lounge and Mehdi from K Street Lounge DC stepped in and filled the management role. As with all things there comes a time for change.

That time is now! STIR LOUNGE DC is now opening. The grand opening being hosted by yours truly Liton Events and DC Royal. This weekend is going to be massive at Stir Lounge as Miami DJ's fresh from WMC 09 take over G street!

With the nightlife crowd moving towards the K street district it was time to give Tantra Lounge a facelift. With a constant issue at Indebleu the seperation of resturant and lounge. Now Indebleu(name change coming soon) will have a completely seperate entrance and address for dining patrons, the 707 G Street address will remain Indebleu. The 705 G St entrance will become Stir. The lounge will be completely inclosed from Indebleu upstairs so no longer will dining patrons have to hear the latest club tracks will dining on French indian cusine.

Stir Lounge will definitely be the new hot location in Chinatown!

Grand Opening of Policy DC | 3.26.09 - 3.29.09 | www.policydc.com

Grand Opening of Policy DC 3.26.09 - 3.29.09 www.policydc.com
After a amazing soft opening week that started with a private friends and family bash that was packed and similar soft events on Friday and Saturday. Policy is well on its way to becoming the new it venue of the season.

In what seems to be anti-recession in the hospitality industry with new resturants and lounges opening just aboput every two weeks. Policy will stand out from the pack for two main reasons the food and the decor. We had the privellege of chatting with the graphic artisit that created in the funky graffti murals that line the walls of the second floor lounge of the venue. On the first floor the red and black scheme works well for the venue along with the huge windows to enjoy some people watching. Make sure you make time and stop by the brand new resto-lounge Policy.

Well its seems that The Park is really reaching out to the hollywood set for recent events. Even though rumours have been circling from various hollywood agents that Mario isn't going to be showing up at the Park. We just had to post to see if this event is going to happen.

Now you may remember we had the Dancing with the Stars celebrity at Tantra Lounge DC earlier in 2008, where he partied with various DWTS stars during the night. So we shall see if this event happens...

The 43rd Annual Smithsonian Kite Festival will be held Saturday, March 28, on the grounds of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (rain date: March 29). This free, public event organized by The Smithsonian Associates and the National Air and Space Museum features kite displays, demonstrations and handmade kite competitions. This year’s festival will explore how using natural resources can be a fun and fulfilling experience.

Participants are encouraged to create environmentally and thematically “green” kites from renewable resources such as bamboo and recyclable goods such as paper and cloth. Elements of this year’s festivities include kite making activities for kids, special guest kite makers and kite flyers from Switzerland and the Czech Republic, kite trick demonstrations by Revolution Kites and several sponsored activity tents focused on the concept of “green.” Among other presenters, the West Indian American Kiters Association and Tobago Flying Colours will demonstrate how to make kites with recycled material, the Embassy of Sweden will present a living green exhibit and the Department of Energy’s Wind Powering America program will educate spectators about wind power. Featured every year is the handmade kite competition in which awards are given in categories for children, adults and master kite makers. Kites must be created by the participant and capable of flying at a minimum of 100 feet for at least one minute and will be judged on design, appearance, construction and performance. A special award is given for the kite that best interprets the festival theme. Teams may also compete in two exciting events: the traditional Rokkaku Challenge, in which flyers attempt to bring down their opponents’ kites, and the Smithsonian Hot Tricks Showdown, which allows kite flyers to demonstrate their skills with trick kite moves.

Registration for all competitions will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.Children and adults are welcome to fly noncompetition kites throughout the day. While participants are encouraged to bring their own kites, 1,000 free kites will be distributed to children on a first come, first served basis.

Cadillac CTS-V Coupe - GM Latest Effort

Cadillac CTS-V Coupe - GM Latest Effort

DETROIT – Having earned critical acclaim, industry awards and brisk sales, Cadillac CTS has moved into the vanguard of contemporary design. In doing so, Cadillac designers faced the question of what to do next. Their answer celebrates that design legacy with the exhilarating Cadillac CTS Coupe Concept, which premiered at the North American International Auto
Show.

The CTS Coupe Concept takes Cadillac’s acclaimed Art and Science design language and adds more of both. More expressive, more
technical and very personal, the CTS Coupe Concept extends the dramatic design of its sedan predecessor with all-new sculpted bodywork aft of the front fenders. "The CTS Coupe Concept is pure design," said Ed Welburn, vice president of global design. "We did not create it because
market research demanded it, nor is its shape trimmed to suit the input collected at a consumer clinic – it is emotion on four wheels and the very essence of what defines Cadillac today."
The CTS Coupe Concept has a classic 2+2 interior layout, highlighted by black leather and Alcantara microfiber trim that is complemented by yellow ochre-colored seat inserts and leather stitching. It is designed to accommodate a range of engines for the global luxury market, including Cadillac’s popular 3.6L Direct Injection V-6, as well as a new 2.9L turbo diesel currently in development.

"This Coupe Concept is a natural extension of our design language, and of the CTS itself," said Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager. "Very simply, the dramatic design of the sedan begged the question of what it would look like in the unbridled form of a Coupe." Generated from the spark of the CTS design team’s imagination, the CT Coupe Concept casts a profile unlike anything else on the road. Its fast-rake styling – it has the same wheelbase as the CTS, but an overall height that is approximately four inches (101 mm) shorter – blends with hand-sculpted bodywork that bulges around the wheels, giving the vehicle a ready-to-pounce stance that is dramatic, powerful and sleek.

"Just about every decade, Cadillac designs a landmark car that becomes synonymous with the brand’s character of the period, such as the 1938 60 Special, the 1959 lineup and 1975 Seville," said John Manoogian II, director of exterior design for Cadillac. "The CT Coupe Concept is the next great design, carrying the baton from the Evoq Concept that ushered in the Art
and Science era in 1999."A design gem Among the CT Coupe Concept’s signature design cues are a number of elements that suggest the look of a carefully cut diamond – particularly at the rear. These elements are seen in everything from the chrome header above the rear license plate holder to the indents that comprise the basic form of the rear fascia.
"The diamond-cut elements enhance the sleek profile of the car," said Manoogian. "The CT Coupe Concept uses the elements,
along with other nods to classic Cadillac cues – such as vertical headlamps and taillamps – to acknowledge the brand’s heritage without resorting to nostalgia. It is a forward-looking design in every sense of the term." Although based on the sedan, the CT Coupe Concept shares only the headlamps, front fenders and grille with the production
model. Unique elements include:
* Classic hardtop styling, with no "B" pillar
* CTS production windshield laid at a faster angle to create a sleeker profile
* Chrome, split seven-spoke wheel design; 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels
* Sculpted lower front fascia with unique brake-cooling vents
* Slim-profile outside mirrors
* XLR-type hidden door handles with proximity remote opening
* Unique front fender vents
* Diamond-cut rear fascia with mesh lower grilles and center-outlet exhaust
* Taillamps with a subtle fin profile and are highlighted with LED lighting technology with light pipes
* Rear spoiler integrated into the center high-mounted stop lamp* Sculpted roof-mounted antenna for OnStar, XM Satellite Radio, etc.
"The cliché is to say that there were no compromises in the design, but that is absolutely accurate in the case of the CT Coupe Concept," said Manoogian. "Each line and angle of the bodywork was carefully honed and the final design’s proportions were judged by the eyes of the design team, not computer-generated math data." The surfaces of CT Coupe Concept are complex, inviting careful inspection. The rear fenders, for example, were sculpted by
hand in the design studio until they provided a perfect, muscular form that wrapped tightly over the wheels. At the top, the rear fenders are beveled – owing to the diamond-cut theme – and become part of a horizontal plane that runs from the leading edge of the taillamps and merges into the roof. "At first glance, the design appears effectively simple, because there are no extraneous moldings, spoilers or other protrusions, but the more you look at it, the more complex it becomes," said Manoogian. "The angles and bevels were carefully
carved to enhance the cars sleek shape, but aren’t ‘busy’ or distracting – there’s really nothing quite like it."Personal passenger environment A classic 2+2 interior environment enhances the CT Coupe Concept’s personal feel. It shares the hand cut-and-sewn instrument panel and center console with the CTS, but features unique front and rear seats, a continuous console running between the front and rear seats, and custom door panels.

"The CT Coupe Concept is a personal car – something a customer would choose to reward him or herself – and the passenger environment reflects that," said Eric Clough, interior design director. "The interior uses the already excellent CTS design and takes it to a new, bolder level."
Custom-trimmed sport seats from Recaro are located in all four positions. They support the grand-touring nature of the car and are covered in rich, black and suede-like Alcantara microfiber material, with yellow ochre-colored inserts. The yellow ochre color provides dramatic contrast with the black surrounding trim, but is a subdued hue consistent with the interior’s overall feeling of refinement. Yellow ochre stitching also is used throughout, including the seats, instrument panel, shifter knob and more. Black Alcantara covers the front armrest, as well as an armrest located between the rear seats. The armrests are part of a continuous console that stretches from the instrument panel to rear seats. Carbon-fiber trim accents the console. The
interior also features ambient lighting throughout, creating a distinctive environment at night.
Like the sedan, the CT Coupe Concept’s interior is home to a host of technologies, including a premium Bose audio system, 40-gigabyte hard drive and XM Satellite Radio. OnStar with Turn by Turn Navigation enhances the vehicle’s onboard navigation system, which – like the CTS – features a screen that rises out of the center of the instrument panel.Performance-bred powertrain and suspension systems As is the case with its design, the CT Coupe Concept extends the acclaimed capabilities of the sedan in terms of performance technology. This includes the capability to support a broad engine range of gasoline and diesel engines. The CT Coupe Concept of course ascertains the sedan’s 3.6L V-6 engines, including the 304-horsepower (227 kW) Direct Injection power plant. The Coupe Concept also is designed for a new 2.9L turbo diesel being developed for international markets. This new engine, tailored for use in the CTS, will deliver an estimated 250 horsepower (184 kW) and 406 lb.-ft. of torque (550 Nm). A six-speed manual transmission backs the engine, sending torque to an independently sprung rear axle. The CT Coupe Concept’s sport-tuned suspension gives it a slightly lower ride height than a production CTS – a look enhanced by the car’s rakish shape and large, 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels.

Behind the chrome, split-spoke, aluminum alloy wheels is a set of high-performance brakes, featuring cross-drilled rotors. Six-piston calipers clamp down on the front rotors, while four-piston calipers grab the rear rotors. All of the rotors have a
distinctive, yellow-painted finish.

Crystal City Gets Even Greener for Spring

Crystal City Gets Even Greener for Spring
Visit the Emerald City and Get Fit, Healthy, and Green!

Crystal City (Arlington, VA) - Crystal City will glow even greener at tonight’s Arena Stage Benefit. The event, which raises over one-third of the funds necessary to run Arena’s Community Engagement programs, will feature a performance of “Arena Stage in Oz.” As the area’s Emerald City, Crystal City will sparkle as the celebration also kicks off the Crystal City Business Improvement District’s (BID) Green Scene.

“The Arena Stage benefit is only the beginning of a great Green line-up in Crystal City.“ Said Angela Fox, President and CEO of Crystal City BID and co-chair of the 17th Annual Benefit. “With Green Scene, Crystal City will get fit, healthy, and green for spring.”
With activities planned throughout the season, the first exciting Green Scene program brings fitness to the forefront! 5K Fridays will offer workers, residents, and visitors a chance to get active together. Every Friday at 6:30p starting April 3 and running through May 1, participants will run a professionally timed and certified course organized by Pacers.

Crystal City’s newest residential property, “220,” will host the start/finish line and provide water to racers, while Noodles & Co will offer the opportunity to do a carbo load (pre or post race) with two for one pasta dishes. Runners can then shower courtesy of Sport&Health before heading over to Tortoise and Hare for live music after parties. And, to demonstrate how fashionable running can be, the final race on May 1 will feature the “Little Black Dress Club” members running in their stylish “LBD-best!” All are invited to don an LBD and join in the fun! Each race costs $15 or pay only $50 for all five. Details and pre-race registration is available online via Pacers at www.runpacers.com.

Crystal City BID is not just green in the spring. All events, from the recent Crystal Couture to summer’s Crystal Screen, are designed to produce “low- to no- waste” while promoting energy efficiency and environmental quality. Events use eco-friendly products (plates, forks, cups, etc.), compost bins, and active recycling.

Fashion for Paws® Ticket Update & News!

Washington Humane Society's Fashion for Paws® Ticket Update & News!

We are just a few weeks away from the main Fashion for Paws® event on March 28, 2009 from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the Embassy of Italy.

We have sold out of VIP tickets, but do still have a number of general admission tickets left for $75 and a handful of VIP tables for $2000 left. This year, Actor, Val Kilmer, will now be an Honorary Chair of the event, joining Honorary Chairs NBC’s Luke Russert, Animal
Planet’s Victoria Stilwell and DC Councilmember, Jack Evans. The Mistress of Ceremonies will be Pamela Sorensen.

F4P infuses the nation’s capital with cutting edge high fashion, drawing an extraordinary crowd of VIP’s, fashion and animals lovers alike. The fashion show and fundraising event features sixty notable personalities as the models on the runway. F4P includes 3 different categories of models walking the runway, with one category comprised of fundraising models who agree to
raise funds in the weeks leading up to the fashion show and participate in a friendly fundraising competition. The top male and female fundraiser will be awarded the title “F4P Model Washingtonian of the Year,” on the runway. In just its first 2 years, F4P DC has been a smashing success, selling more than 1000 tickets each year, and raising more than $330,000 for
charity. This year, to date, the F4P fundraising models have already raised a total of $98,000 in just 4½ weeks.

It is such an honor that F4P has been recognized and supported in such a tremendous way by the models and committee members involved; understanding the positive impact that the work of the WHS’ mission has on the animals and people most in need in
the Washington, DC community. We are all thrilled to be returning to the Embassy of Italy, and are certain that we will exceed the accomplishments of last year’s success, even in these troubling economic times.

Tysons Galleria has signed on to be the official fashion partner of the event. Models will be strutting down the runway in selections from the spring 2009 collections of: 7 for all Mankind, Betsey Johnson, Cache, Cole-Haan, MaxMara, Nicole Miller, Liljenquist & Beckstead, Ermenegildo Zegna, Anthropologie, Cartier, David Yurman, Lacoste, Saks Fifth Avenue and Aram. Make-up will be done by Chanel and hair will be styled by Toka Salon.

Aba Kwawu will be behind the scenes again this year working to organize the styling of the models and the run of the fashion show; a challenging task considering the volume of models and retailers on this year’s runway.

Canine Couture will be created by Kristina Robertson of Barkley Square Gourmet Dog Bakery & Boutique, and will be in keeping with the designs worn by the two-legged models on the runway.
Teatro Goldoni restaurant will be the VIP section sponsor, providing lavish Italian fare for VIP seated guests, as well as providing special service to the VIP tables.

For the third year in a row the runway and staging production will be handled by NoMad Event Systems, this year unveiling a new sleek design reminiscent of runways in Milan, Paris and New York, yet still able to accommodate those models on four-legs featured in the F4P show.
This year, the event will also include a newly added dance party presented by the band, The Frustrations. Following the fashion show, a tent off of the Embassy, sponsored by HDO Tents, will be opened at 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. welcoming guests inside for a festive atmosphere to dance the night away in style!

The official F4P after party for VIP ticket holders, models and committee members will take place at L2 Lounge from 12:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.

To purchase tickets and to see a full list of 2009 models and sponsors please visit,

Thank you for your support. Looking forward to the 28th!

POLICY™ Resto Lounge { Truth - Love - Liberty } DC

POLICY™ Resto Lounge { Truth - Love - Liberty } DC Soft launch - March 19,2009

We are proud to finally unwrap some good news about our good friend and partner Omar Miskinyar's latest project. After launching Friday's at Josephine and hosting tons of successful events at Spank and Tantra Lounge Omar has begun building a amazing venue on U street.

Omar Miskinyar, a true veteran of the DC nightclub industry and owner and brainchild behind POLICY - soon to be the latest addition to hit the growing food and lounge scene in DC’s historic U Street Corridor. He began his career in 2001 promoting major events in some of the city’s most high profile and well-known establishments. Influenced by the likes of 1223 {RIP} and Josephine’s owner David Karim, 18th Street Lounge and Marvin’s owner Farid Nouri and Local 16’s owner Amman Ayoubi, Miskinyar quickly made a name for himself as a successful event host and crowd generator for some of the city’s most exclusive lounges and nightclubs.

His vision for POLICY follows similar form. POLICY’s “truth, love and liberty” theme is apparent in the venue’s small and intimate feel, as well as Chef Brian Murphy’s menu, which offers simple, seasonal food done right and made with the best quality ingredients. Some of you may remember Brain from his posts at L' Auberge Chez Francois and Palena in the district, now he has steeped in to helm POLICY.

A restaurant first and foremost, POLICY is also a hybrid lounge and bar. With room upstairs to kick back and listen to tunes played byresident DJs, guests can sample signature cocktails ranging from theTruthtini, a Green and Lemongrass martini to the Libertini, a twist on a Mango Caipirinha. Miskinyar’s vision is also brought to life in the venue’s physical appearance, developed and built by CORE, one of the country’s most renowned and reputable design and architecture firms.
