2nd Matchbox Resturant in DC | DEC 5TH Grand Opening

Matchbox Resturant in Washington DC Opens Second Location DEC 5TH Grand Opening

Nestled in the barrow row neighborhood the new matchbox is opening its second location this friday. Like its first chinatown location, the new spot in up-and-coming barrow row has a masonry oven for perfect pizza.

What makes the pizza amazing? It could be the choice ingreds they use, but you know you can't resist the crust, made fresh daily in-house. The new spot will also feature a new menu items like pan-fried bistro crab cakes and bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits.

Coming soon the venue will add a jazz trio to the mix to ring in the new year. While waiting for your table take in the vibe at the renovated building that was built in the 1920s and used to house an A&P and vending-maching warehouse. Inside you will find the backlit barn wood siding from an 1860's Pennsylvania barn, 3 foot skylights and a bartop and pizza line made from an abandoned oak shuffleboard table that was discovered at the original space.

In the kitchen you will find Johnny Mac and newcomer Shannon Troncoso, an import from Denver area. Owners Perry Smith, Ty Neal, Mark Neal and Drew Kim stripped the building down to the bare bones before creating this new location It will be open for lunch and brunch is the coming weeks.
