Washington, DC Prepares for Fashion for Paws 2009

Washington, DC – On March 28, 2009 from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. the 3rd annual Fashion for Paws® event will take place at the Embassy of Italy to benefit the Washington Humane Society (WHS). Tickets will be $75 per person (standing), VIP $150 per person (seated), and VIP tables will be $2000. Tickets will go on sale January 27th. This year’s Honorary Chair will be Luke Russert, and the Emcee will be Pamela Sorensen. Teatro Goldoni will be the VIP section sponsor, providing lavish Italian fare for VIP guests.

Fashion for Paws infuses the nation’s capital with cutting edge high fashion, drawing an extraordinary crowd of VIP’s, fashion and animals lovers alike. The fashion show and fundraising event features sixty of Washington, DC’s most notable personalities as the models on the runway. Models on two-legs will be dressed in ready-to-wear spring ‘09, while those on four-legs will model ready-to-wag spring ’09.

In just its first 2 years, Fashion for Paws DC has been a smashing success, selling more than 1000 tickets each year, and raising more than $330,000 for charity. In 2008, Event Chairman, Michael Saylor, generously matched donations made to the Fashion for Paws event, in support of the fundraising models, donating $85,000.

“It was an honor that Michael Saylor recognized the Fashion for Paws event in such a tremendous way; understanding the positive impact that the work of the WHS’s mission has on the animals and people most in need in the Washington, DC community,” said Creator/Advisory Chair of Fashion for Paws, Tara de Nicolas. “We are thrilled to be returning to the Embassy of Italy, and are certain that we will exceed the accomplishments of last year’s success, despite the state of the economy.”

Fashion for Paws has solidified itself as the most exclusive must attend event in Washington, DC and includes 3 different categories of models walking the runway, with those that are fundraising models agreeing to raise funds in the weeks leading up to the fashion show and participate in a friendly fundraising competition, kicking off on January 27th. The top male and female fundraiser will be awarded the title “Fashion for Paws Model Washingtonian of the Year,” on
the runway.
