It's hard to imagine life without email. Or worse, Facebook (gasp!).
But, even more difficult to imagine is that some of our neighbors out there in the world don't even know what it's like to drink clean water -- let alone play in it!
So on August 2, as we splish 'n splash around, drink champagne and, well, celebrate the birth of moi, I'd love it if all my chronic do-gooder friends here in D.C. would also unite in celebration for the little kids out there who've never known the luxury of a pool party.
Every person who makes a donation (any amount) to PlayPumps International through the FB cause page link (below) will be granted complimentary admission to the Adult Swim pool party on Sunday, August 2, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. -- otherwise, there is a cover at the door.

At the same time, PlayPumps strives to bring joy into the lives of African children and better health for millions, in addition to furthering the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals.
The goal is to donate and install 4,000 PlayPump® water systems in ten countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, which will provide access to clean drinking water for up to 10 million people by 2010. More than 900 PlayPump systems have already been installed in South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique and Swaziland. The unusual pumps are merry-go-rounds located on top of bore holes, and rely on the energy of children playing to pump water to the surface.
