CO2 Lounge Opens to give fresh air to Maryland Nightlife

Washington, DC area nightlife in the Washington metropolitan area, Co2 comes like a breath of fresh air. Opening in downtown Bethesda, Co2 will be an indoor-outdoor venue that will offer dining, dancing and membership privileges all surrounded by modern art. The venue features a requisite DJ booth, three entertainment stages, a fashion runway, a “teatro e galleria” – which will feature art and photography – and a dining area with a full tappas-inspired menu and extensive cocktail list. Outside there will be a European-styled “terrazza” complete with waterfall and fountain next to which hip Bethesdians can enjoy live performances and some real Co2.

Just in case you have too much fun, the venue will have pedi-cabs on-site to transport guests to and from bustling downtown Bethesda. Additionally, limo services will be available to travel into Washington, and the Hyatt will offer overnight rates to Co2 guests. The lounge will be opened for lunch, dinner, happy hour and late night lounging after 9PM. The club is offering 50 exclusive memberships which offer priority entrance as well as access to a private members lounge within the club. On Friday night you get a chance to join Vogue writer Tatiana Boncompagni at Bethesda Row from 6:30pm-8:30pm for a book signing, champagne and cupcakes. The fashionista who has been pleasing loyal Vogue readers for a long time (her pieces have also found their way into the New York Times, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and InStyle) is a Georgetown University grad and very well respected in the beauty, fashion and social trends industries.

The novel is entitled Gilding Lily but get ready for her next one, Hedge Fund Wives which will be published in 2009.

If you want to make jaws drop at one of the Inaugural balls in January, you better start shopping now. Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase has made one stop shopping possible for the Inauguration--bringing in four top designers for one presidential trunk show. "This Catherine Regher stunner is just the ticket," Katie Jaggers of Saks says as model Kate Michael twirls in a gray tafetta dress--each cuff is piled high with real Swarovski crystals.

Also on display at Saks--a floral dress is by Melinda Eng. We already know Michelle Obama favors colorful fashion--and if you do too--designer Robert Danes has a fuscia number that may interest you. New York Designer Reem Acra was showing a brilliant green chiffon dress perfect for dancing. "Different, but very fun."

While the designer dresses start at about $3,700, we found some right off the rack at Saks for about $400. (They're having a huge sale). Not sure what to wear with the gown-- Saks has eight personal shoppers to outfit you from head to toe. "It's really about whatever feels good to you--whatever makes you feel powerful, special and beautiful." And at least your dress won't wind up on display in the Smithsonian like Michelle OBama's will.
