Georgetown Grad Open Sweetgreen!


Former Georgetown student Nic Jammet along with two other partners has delievered one of the DC's area's healthier resturants.




23-year-old Nic Jammet is one of the three minds behind Georgetown's eco-friendly salad shop, Sweetgreen. The Georgetown grad has resturant ownership in his blood,his parents owned the classy French dining room Le Caravelle in Manhattan until it closed a few years ago. Before he partnered with two friends to launch Sweetgreen during his senior year at Georgetown. Jammet, a Georgetown business major, spent summers interning in the restaurant industry.

One summer, he worked for Joe Bastianich, son of Italian-cooking maven Lidia and owner, with Mario Batali, of several New York restaurants including Babbo and Del Posto. Bastianich is now an investor in Sweetgreen.Jammet lives in Georgetown, just a few blocks away from the cozy 500-square-foot hut that houses Sweetgreen. He plans to move back to New York eventually, but for now, he’s busy expanding the business here in DC.

The next Sweetgreen Jammet plans to open will be on the north side of Dupont, “right on the circle,” he says, though he won't disclose specifics until the lease is officially nailed down. He and his partners are aiming for a late-summer opening there, and are now scouting for a third downtown DC location "near Farragut Square or in Chinatown."Over salads and cups of “Sweetflow”—Sweetgreen's signature sweet-tart frozen yogurt—Jammet chatted with us about his food favorites.

Platinum Nightclub - Up for Sale/Lease

Platinum Nightclub is Officially Closed!

Well the day has finally come. As we reported earlier in our updates in the Penn Quarter area, the troubles Abdul Khanu's incident prone Platinum was having. Well it seems Papadopoulos Properties has had a enough. Now when you visiting Ultrabar or COCO Sala you can see the large for lease sign for the building.

The building which was orginially a bank has housed various nightclubs for the past 30 years. The future for the building is currently unknown, but rumours have have been buzzing around the city for weeks in regards to new ownership. We will definitely keep you updated.

Chef Alison Swope's Restaurant K Set to Close!

Resturant K closed on June 23,2008.


Chef Alison Swope( Santa Fe East & Andale), whose Andale resturant closed in 2006, opened Resturant K on Monday September 17,2007 to rave reviews from foodies all over the metro area.

The Resturant K location that filled the prime location of the former Jimmy’s on K Street location at (1700 K St. NW). Owned by Portland, Ore.-based McCormick & Schmick’s, its executive chef was Alison Swope and its general manager was Jim McVeigh. The McCormick & Schmick’s group just opened a brand new McCormick & Schmick’s Harborside location in National Harbor just this past week making seven location under the umbrella in the region. Despite the balmy weather reports are that this past weekend the resturant was far from capacity even on its grand opening weekend.

According to a press release from the company “current economic conditions have led to the business decision to close this restaurant and reallocate its resources to our core McCormick & Schmick’s branded establishments … We deeply appreciate Alison’s skills and hard work and hope to incorporate her as part of our culinary development team going forward.”

We hope this isn't a sign for the flurry of new resturants and lounges that are set to open in the city in the coming months. Chef Alison Swope is scheduled to move into a role on the culinary team for the resturant group.

Brand New Pasara Opens on Connecticut Avenue.







This past Tuesday G-Star Raw hosted their Grand Opening on Conn. Ave in Dupont Circle. Tons of fashionistas strolled into the brand new location. The event was put together by the fabulous Aba Agency, known for her amazing touch on events. The live mannequins in the store were a cool treat.



This Friday is going to be another hectic one. Reports are that DJ Dove of Mansion NYC fame is going to spinning at the K street "it spot" Josephine. If you want to make it past the velvet rope make sure you contact one of the promoters below to gain entry:

Cirque du Soleil is coming with KOOZA to the National Harbor

Cirque du Soleil is heading to D.C. this fall, and you can pre-order tickets two days before the general public for the latest show, KOOZA. KOOZA will be performed under the Grand Chapiteau, at The Plateau at National Harbor.

The performance stars a character called "The Innocent" a loner who's trying to find his place in the world around him. This journey includes mind-blowing acrobatics and wild stunts. Cirque du Soleil puts a whole new twist on soul searching. The Innocent's journey brings him into contact with a panoply of comic characters such as the King, the Trickster, the Pickpocket, and the Obnoxious Tourist and his Bad Dog.

2008 Yacht Show at National Harbor® - June 5-8 2008

Pictured above is one of our favorite yacht makers Wally, with yacht designs that have nautical enthusiasts lined up for just a chance to own one. The metro area is bringing the same excitement to the brand new National Harbor for the 2008 United States Yacht Show. This show will be the premier showcase for large luxury yachts for sale and as rentals. The show will feature only the most discriminating yachts of imposing size to be displayed in the new marina at National Harbor® on the Potomac River in Maryland.


The yachts will be available for purchase or worldwide charter. On land may be found only the most impeccable of yacht launches and tenders for visitors to browse.

THE SOURCE by Wolfgang PUCK - Where VIP's Dine



Welcome to the Newseum's brand new restaurant The Source is still attracting a long list of VIP's and celebrities. It helps that famed Chef and Owner Wolfgang Puck has been known to pop up at diners tables and check on their meals. This month, the restaurant hosted CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, and former House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt along with Philanthropists Catherine and Wayne Reynolds.

Miss DC 2008 Crowned at the Lincoln Theatre


Kate Marie Grinold was recently crowned as Miss DC 2008. Miss DC 2008 is a graduate of George Washington University and works as a manager of the Rugby boutique in Georgetown. Rugby boutique is one of Georgetown gems by the way, stop by if you are in the area.

Ms Grinold will be representing the Washington region in the upcoming Miss America Competition to be held in January.

In the teen department, Latin ballroom dancer Jasmine Alexis, was named Miss Outstanding Teen D.C. 2008. She will taken over the crown from former Miss Outstanding Teen D.C. 2007 Miss Caitlin Brunnell. Just so you know she is the daughter of former Skins quarterback Mark Brunnell.

George Clooney and girlfriend Sarah Larson have called it quits. The much adored and sometimes cocky movie star, 47, and Las Vegas cocktail waitress turned so called model, 29, called it quits after a year of dating. This news undoubtedly triggered countless celebrations and text messages along with champagne toasts from Clooney's adoring female fans. Larson's appearance with Clooney at the Oscars fueled some rumors of an engagement, but he's back on the market ladies. When the actor sets foot in DC we will be sure to let you know.

Ristorante A.V. bids adieu

DC Real Estate Mogul Douglas Jemal 0r " just Jemal" as we call him. Bought out popular local traditional Italian restaurant called Ristorante A.V.

His purchase of this restaurant I felt was long over due, partly in fact to way he has been acquiring property and land in the area of late as if its going out of style. This classic restaurant was sitting on a prime location. With the addition of Mazu and Posh(www.poshdc.com) and few other high end restaurants in the area, Ristorante A.V. days were numbered.

I do find solace in the fact, that the former owners of the location did not walk away empty handed. Reportedly the deal they received for the venue was more than agreeable to the owner. I hope to see another classic venue from the folks at Ristorante A.V.

NIGHTCLUB NEWS DC

As many of you know Platinum(www.platinumdc.com) (rape room as I call it)closed its doors in March, not just because of the long list of incidents and issues with the ABC Board. A drive by shooting occurred just feet away from the venue. Was I amazed when I first heard about it considering the sizable police presence every weekend on that corner of 9th and Fst NW. No not really, nothing against Abdul but has any venue control/owned by Abdul not had a large amount of shootouts and stabbings.

I am glad Marc has marketing focus away from Dream(Nightmare) because I thought he was trying to have more incident reports thanAbdul.

None the less the violence took place, and Platinum(Abdul Productions, Ii, Inc., t/a Platinum) locked and boarded its doors. Alas..you have not heard the last from Mighty Abdul, in May Platinum reopened its doors for a few events.

How is this possible? Platinum was able to reopen with out alcohol. Did I type that right? Yes

According to Maria Delaney; Platinum’s ABC license is still under suspension. The establishment can be open for business without alcoholic beverages. The establishment cannot sell, serve, or deliver alcoholic beverages and patrons are prohibited from bringing their own alcoholic beverages into the establishment. I appreciate everyone’s concern and hope this clarifies the current status of this establishment.

This venue is not over yet, this will probably be another metaphoric and its gone through many transformations. We hear the venue is on the market for a reported 1.5 Million. Whose knows its neighbors next door at Ultrabar home to Panorama Productions might be eyeing the venue....we shall see..

Juicy Couture lands in Georgetown!

This week after a few months of construction Juicy Couture is finally slated to open one of their signature flagship stores in the nation's capital. On the beautiful streets of Georgetown, this 5,000 plus square -foot location will feature clothing for men and women along with children and maternity wear.

With a successful store location in Tyson Corner, VA. This district location hopes to share the same success with fashionistas and shoppers that frequent M street on regular basis. LITON EVENTS was able to peak inside during construction and we can personally say this boutique will be fashioned in true Juicy Couture style. Look for more featured events with JUICY COUTURE and LITON EVENTS.
